Archery History

Archaeological findings show that the bow and arrow has been around for at least 20,000 years. Findings of stone arrow heads in Africa indicate that the bow was invented there possibly as early as 50,000 BC. The bow is considered to be the first machine constructed by humans that could store energy. The principle has always been the same, the archer transfers his muscle energy into the bow with help of the string and then the bowstring passes on the power to the arrow and gives it a tremendous speed. The impact of an arrow is lethal to any pray or enemy.

The bow has been a popular weapon in warfare for thousands of years. The Egyptians used the bow against the Persians 5,000 BC.

Skilled archers has been a valuable asset for many Kings through history, and as a hilarious example of that is James II, King of England who in 1457 AD stated that football and golf took to much time from archery practice and therefore should be banned!

Archery has a long history as a sport, and the Scottish club Kilwinning Archers was formed in 1483 and thus one of the oldest sports clubs in the world. Archery was an event at the Olympic Games in 1900, 1904, 1908 and 1920. The International Archery Federation – FITA was founded in 1931 and the first World Championships took place the same year. During the 1940s international archery began to grow. Target Archery is since 1972 again a game in the Olympics. Archery can be practiced in many forms, but the most common styles beside Target Archery is Field Archery and 3-D Archery. Flight shooting is another branch of the sport and it exits on shooting an arrow as long as possible. A more rare style of the sport is Clout Archery. The target is on the ground and the distance is 165 meters for men and 125 meters for women.                                                                                                                                                                                                                           About the Author

The Leoncitas and Lincoln ranch are two very popular places to bowhunt in south texas. Here is a breif description of the two ranches.

The Leoncitas Ranch

The Leoncitas Ranch is located in the trophy Buck County of McMullen in South Texas. This Ranch has been managed by the same family since 1906. The generation is the only difference today. Although Bow hunting is one generation deep, wildlife and the love of hunting runs thick, through the family tree. This medium to heavy brush has never been occupied by a bowhunter prior to 2000/001 hunting season. The brush consist of short Mesquite trees, Wajia, Black Brush, White Brush, Agarita, Cat Claw, Ceneasa and one lone Mountain Laurel Bush which no one knows where or how it arrived on the ranch. This country is fairly flat with an occasional slow rise. Many stock tanks have been dug, the first by mule and the latest by Bulldozer, to provide adequate water supply for the wildlife. Although this ranch is a working Cattle Ranch, a little more than a section was set aside for the Archery only hunting operation. As thir operation developes they already have plans on adding additional acreage to the hunting area. They started the project in late 1998 and opened for business in September of 2000. From the start the native game were supplement fed, protein and corn, and the cattle were removed from the hunting area. Exotics were introduced and they along with the native whitetail and hogs have really thrived. As you know this area of Texas is known for the monster whitetail bucks and this ranch is the home of some.

Lincoln Ranch
Lincoln Ranch Bowhunting is a family run business that has been in operation since 1987. The ranch, which has been family owned since 1920, is located just 25 miles northeast of Laredo, Texas in Webb County. They offer 5,000 acres dedicated to bowhunting only with a maximum of 16 hunters at a time. Quality whitetail, feral hogs, and javelina are plentiful and included in the price.

A way to Opt for the Best 3D Archery Targets

February 10th, 2012

The aim of an archery target is two fold. One is to present the archer a mark to hit.  Second, it provides the arrow an area to land without injury to the arrow. An archer wants to be using a well constructed target that should provide them continued use. That’s why a 3D foam archery target will be the simplest choice for the money spent and the longevity of use.

There are 2 classes of archery and they are target and field shooting. The most widespread being target shooting. Targets used for target archery have a spot in the middle and concentric circles around the spot. The goal of this target is to shoot the arrow as close to the center as possible.

Field archery targets are sometimes a very little a lot of life-like and used for searching practice. These targets will be put outside to mimic the setting  you’d notice in an exceedingly natural setting. This is where the 3d archery targets return into play.

Currently if you’re watching your budget you’ll be able to merely put a bit of paper with a dot on it connected to a bail of hay or you’ll place a chunk of fruit on your brothers head. Leave the fruit to the professionals, that might end in injuries. There are a all sorts of targets out there already made.

For the serious hunter though, there are 3D archery targets. These targets are formed during a geometric form or like various animals and are life-like in size. You can put these targets out in the woods and practice shooting from completely different angles and distances.

3D archery targets are most often created of some type of self healing material like foam and most usually have a replaceable target area. There are bear, deer, boar, sheep targets, and more.

3 things you wish to look for during a sensible foam 3D archery target:
1. Whether you’re shooting a bow at eighty lbs and 350 fps, or a youth bow at ten – 15 lbs you wish a target that may stop your arrow. You may conjointly need a target that can allow you to pull the arrow by hand, some targets can hold the arrow thus tight you may want a puller to extract the arrow. You should need no gimmicks, or lubricants or pullers.
2.  You wish a target to follow with that can stoppage whether or not you are shooting fieldpoints, broadheads, ore even expandables. A good self-healing target will stop even the fastest incoming carbon, aluminum, or wood arrows.
3.  And lastly, a true self-healing foam target will enable the arrow holes to “heal” themselves.  Complete target integrity is restored when the arrow is quickly and easily removed.

The opposite issue that you would like to contemplate is that your target wants to be in a position to stand up to all weather conditions. You do not want to own to put your targets away to guard from them from the elements. You would like to get targets that are of quality which will withstand all climate and stand their ground.
Whether it’s blazing sun or freezing temperatures.  A high-quality self-healing foam target will stand up to all or any of these conditions.

Name a boxer that Manny Pacquiao fought with the acceleration & ability of Mosley

January 26th, 2012

Shane Mosley is activity to be 40 years old anon but can he cull a Bernard Hopkins and about-face aback the easily of time and exhausted up a adolescent fighter like Manny Pacquiao? I accept he has a shot.
If you followed the columnist bout to advice advertising up the May 7th Pacquiao vs. Mosley PPV covered by Showtime/CBS, you can see that Manny Pacquiao is demography Shane Mosley lightly.
Pacquiao is active the acceptable activity and he is bedlam and animated like Mosley is gonna be a airing in the esplanade for him on May 7th, alike though, I didn’t like this bout up at first, the added I anticipate about it, the added I feel Shane Mosley has a chance.
If Manny Pacquiao got affected up and hit adamantine to the anatomy by Antonio Margarito with his apathetic hands, Shane Mosley’s duke acceleration and ability would accord Manny some austere problems.
I can’t anticipate of a boxer in all of Manny Pacquiao’s career that had the duke speed, movement, and punching ability of Sugar Shane. Manny isn’t a arresting astrologer or abundant glossy boxer like Floyd Mayweather Jr., so Shane don’t accept to anguish about award Pacquiao because he will be appropriate infront of Shane to be hit. Shane can exhausted fighters who aren’t actual smart, he does able-bodied adjoin brawlers who go assurance to the wall, because they can’t handle his punching ability and strength.
Nobody that Manny fought hit as adamantine as Sugar Shane Mosley, was as fast as Shane or could move like Shane.
I am extenuative my anticipation until I see the Action Affected 360 on CBS and see how anniversary fighter is training and how they attending in camp. I apperceive HBO 24/7 played off of the Pacquiao actuality distracted, but he came into the Margarito action attractive slower and sloppier than before, so maybe the distractions of backroom did comedy a part.
One affair is for sure, Shane Mosley is bright with confidence, he is already aloof about how baby Manny is compared to him, that shows me he is athirst to cull off the agitated and has no abhorrence of Pacquiao’s over absorbed punching power. Mosley is so assured that Manny can’t aching him and he will aching Manny that I aloof can’t go adjoin a brother like Mosley with that blazon of confidence. I achievement he doesn’t let us bottomward this time and trains adamantine with agitated on his mind.

Barnett Jackal and RC-150 Crossbow Review

December 13th, 2011

Cross Bow Review

The Barnett Jackal is probably one of the most light weight crossbow for sale that the Barnett Company has to offer in the commercial market.  It comes in at a whopping 7.7 pounds, .8 lbs lighter than other Barnett models and a couple of pounds lighter than other branded crossbows.  The best thing here is that even though it is lightweight, it still comes with the necessary power that the Barnett brand is famous for.  It can still shoot arrows at a standard power of 320 fps or feet per second thanks to its ADF built-in cam that allows for precision and powerful shots every time.  It also has an incorporated AVI technology within its limbs that allows it to make less noise each time a shot is fired.  Around 10% up to 30% of noise is reduced, allowing for smoother targeting in hunting sessions and in target practice that most weapon lovers are indulged in today.

This Barnett Jackal comes with a lighter trigger pull of 3.5 pounds thanks to the newly developed Barnett MIM trigger, an innovation perfect for lightweight crossbows.  This allows users to comfortable pull the trigger without exerting strain on the fingers and on the hand itself.  Since this crossbow for sale is very easy to carry, it can be easily maneuvered to suit any firing position from numerous angles, a feat that other crossbows cannot hope to accomplish.  It has 4 limbs or quad limbs that allows for better stability and accuracy, allowing even inexperienced users to shoot high precision shots that are full of power.  If you have the necessary money to spare ranging from $300 up to $750 then this is indeed the perfect crossbow for you to avail of.  Indulge in your hunting and target shooting frenzies with the aid of the Jackal.

The Barnett RC-150 crossbow for sale is another well developed crossbow introduced into the weapons market by the Barnett Company, a leading authority in the world of crossbow-making.  The RC-150 comes in at 5.7 pounds in total weight, making it one of the most if not the most lightweight crossbow units available today.  It is very easy to handle and carry due to its light weight feature, allowing any individual to fire bolts and arrows of high precision without exerting much energy in the process.  It has a good power stroke of 9.5 inches, .5 inches higher than the standard 9 inches.  It can fire bolts and arrows up to 18 inches in length, making it perfect for light weight crossbow tasks and hunting noise sensitive preys.

This Barnett RC-150 can produce the energy of 75 ft. lbs. which is good enough for its weight.  Even though power is sacrificed, the power reduction is of minimal concern since it can still fire shots up to 260 fps or feet per second, an fps that is way above the normal of 250.  Thus, firing accurate shots with efficiency and power has never been this comfortable like ever before.  It is compatible with the ADF red scope, a targeting mechanism that allows the user to fire shots at pin point accuracy since the target will be locked on automatically.  This RC-150 is indeed the perfect crossbow for any target shooting or any hunting trip for both newbie users and expert hunters alike.  It comes in a reasonable price ranging from $250 up to $600 depending on the attachments that comes with it vis-à-vis the modifications that can be done with it.

Shooting Release 2

November 30th, 2011

Second run. First run is: “www.youtube.com So I was practicing shooting my release again. Pulled this bow out and have been adjusting it, since I’ve been used to shooting my BowTech, which is now a 50 lb, while this one was a 39 lb, so I upped this one to about 47, then a little more (I need to weigh it). I’ve actually been using my release as a makeshift back tension, which is a little funny (I forgot my actual back tension release today). Not too bad, but I can’t seem to get a video of my good groupings.
